The Astek Tank Lining System a durable waterproofing system with the following advantages:
- It is a seamless system
- The system is impervious to UV degradation.
- The acrylic mortar cover is extremely abrasion resistant.
- Less surface preparation is required than for most other systems.
- It may be applied to fresh concrete or damp concrete. In fact, the system must be applied to damp concrete. This results in faster turnaround times.
- It is easily patched and maintained.

The Tank Lining system consists of two components:
- An acrylic modified cementitious mortar (TAPECRETE) which provides both the smooth substrate and the protective cover for the second component:
- An acrylic liquid applied elastomeric coating (Elastra ER100) which applies like paint but cures to a flexible membrane.
These components are combined to create concrete protection systems designed to accommodate the various waterproofing and repair requirements of all concrete structures. In general, Astek components can be combined to provide one of four different levels of flexibility:
Level I – Highest Flexibility
This system is recommended for Level 3 and 4 earthquake zones. It consists of a TAPECRETE Bond Coat followed 3 coats of Elastra ER100 including reinforcing fabric and a topcoat of Tapecrete Mortar.
Level II – High Flexibility
This system consists of a TAPECRETE Bond Coat followed by 2 coats of Elastra ER100 and 2 topcoats of TAPECRETE Spray/Brushcoat. Reinforcing Fabric is used in the Elastra ER100 over active cracks.
Level III – Medium Flexibility
This system consists of TAPECRETE Reinforcing Mesh embedded in 3 coats of Tapecrete Bond Coat and offers protection over areas of micro cracking. Active cracks are covered with Reinforcing Fabric embedded in Elastra ER100.
Level IV – Low Flexibility
This System consists of 2 coats of TAPECRETE Sray/Brushcoat. This System provides flexibility and protection comparable to capillary crystalline sealers and epoxy paints. The flexibility of this System may be improved by the addition of Reinforcing Fabric embedded in Elastra ER100 over all active cracks and joints.
